The sustained wellbeing of the refugee community depends on thriving refugee-owned businesses. Financial inclusion makes it easier for businesses to access resources they need for growth.
The DAHIL (meaning: inclusion) programme supports Syrian refugees and vulnerable Turkish citizens living in the southeastern provinces of Turkey. Financed by the European Union, the programme improves small and medium-sized enterprises’ (SMEs) access to finance so they can create more employment opportunities in Adana, Gaziantep, Hatay and Şanlıurfa.
The programme provides training for SMEs to increase their awareness of the basics of credit scoring in Turkey (Findecks), business plan competitions award winning business ideas with seed funding, business networking events boost social cohesion between Syrian and Turkish business-owners, and SMEs can access a loan guarantee fund. With these support services, entrepreneurs gain greater access to markets and financial services to grow and sustain their businesses to provide more jobs that contribute to the economy.
