We won! SPARK awarded PIEoneer of the Year
The PIEoneer Awards winners 2019
For the third time, international educators and practitioners from different backgrounds, gathered at London’s prestigious Guildhall to attend the global PIEawards hosted by The PIE News (Professionals in International Education). PIE gives out 17 awards that celebrate innovation and achievement across global education and this year, SPARK was shortlisted for PIEoneer of the Year. We were nominated for the coveted award for our work in the Middle East, where alongside several key partners, we have created almost 10,000 scholarships for (mostly) Syrian refugee youth to continue their higher (vocational) education.
We were joined by some stiff competition in the PIEoneer of the Year category, with six other inspiring organisations to compete with: ApplyBoard, Diversity Abroad, Sonder, The Global Education Profiler, The University Alliance for Refugees and At-Risk Migrants and Victoria University. As such, we were even more honoured and humbled when SPARK was announced as the winner!
For twenty five years, we’ve been supporting young people in some of the world’s most fragile and conflict affected regions to access education, entrepreneurship and employment opportunities. We look forward to increasing our quality education services, especially for refugees in the Middle East and North Africa, and hope to celebrate many more PIE Awards!
A huge thanks to the PIE jury for recognising and supporting our work on our 25th anniversary, and congratulations to the rest of the nominees and winners!
