Marie Moussa Maalouli: A lifelong learner and a voice for the elderly

At 65, Marie Moussa Maalouli from Lebanon continues to prove that learning has no age limit. Her journey is one of compassion, resilience, and continuous growth.

More than a decade ago, Marie used her passion for tourism and social work to establish Bethel Society, a volunteer-based association dedicated to serving the elderly. What began as a small initiative with a few friends evolved into a mission to restore dignity and connection to Lebanon’s seniors, many of whom live alone after years of social and economic change.

When Marie took Maharat for Tourism courses, she saw them as an opportunity to strengthen her skills and bring new tools to her cause. “I learned how to use social media and AI for our first association trip,” she explains enthusiastically. “I created posts and designs using AI tools, something completely new for me. It felt amazing to apply what I learned right away!” Her favorite part of the courses was their clarity and practicality.

“The lessons were smooth and answered my questions directly. They didn’t just teach tourism, they taught me how to think, plan, and apply knowledge to real life.”

For Marie, learning is a lifelong mission. With experience in archaeology, theology, education, and tourism, she continues to connect her passions and serve her community.

“I may not be seeking a job, but I believe in combining experience with innovation. That’s how we move forward, together.”
