SPARK calls for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and an end to the occupation – again.

SPARK once again calls for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza and an end to the occupation. The scale of destruction, death and displacement is devastating – and unjustifiable.

In recent days alone, at least 140 Palestinians were reported killed in Gaza within 24 hours, with a further 60 lives taken just today, according to Al Jazeera. The violence has reached horrifying levels, and yet the international response remains far too slow, too fragmented, and too cautious.

There is growing international condemnation. French President Emmanuel Macron has described Israel’s obstruction of humanitarian aid to Gaza as “unacceptable” and “shameful.” Even long-standing political allies are beginning to speak out. The international community must go further – with clear, decisive action – to end the ongoing assault and ensure the protection of civilians.

SPARK stands with the Palestinian people. For more than a decade, we have worked with Palestinian youth and entrepreneurs, witnessing first-hand their resilience and their right to build a future free from fear and violence. But there can be no meaningful development, no recovery, and no hope without justice and the guarantee of human rights.

On May 19th, members of our team in the Netherlands joined tens of thousands of red-clad protesters marching through The Hague – the largest demonstration in the country in two decades – to demand stronger action from the Dutch government to halt Israel’s onslaught in Gaza.

“We cannot talk about rebuilding futures while the foundations are being bombed. A permanent ceasefire and an end to the occupation are not radical demands – they are the bare minimum. We call on world leaders to act now,” said Christel Bultman, CEO of SPARK.

We urge governments, institutions, and individuals to raise their voices, demand an end to the occupation, and pressure their leaders to support a permanent ceasefire. Speak out. Protest. Contact your representatives. Donate to organisations providing humanitarian relief. Refuse to look away.

Silence is complicity. Take a stand because this tragedy must end now.
