IGNITE! Conference 2013

Entrepreneurship Development for Stability in Fragile and Conflict Affected States Wednesday, November 20th in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, SPARK held its annual conference, IGNITE! on Youth Entrepreneurship Development in Conflict Affected Environments. With a focus on the importance of creating economic stability in post conflict states, the conference takes place during Global Entrepreneurship Week, the world’s largest celebration of entrepreneurs, job creators and startups around the world. We were happy to provide an exciting and informative programme that included keynote presentations by Karl Cottrell (Country Manager, Chevron Liberia), Rania Ghneim (Founder, Anoud Company), Donato Kiniger-Passigli (Senior Specialist, International Labour Organization), Chid Liberty (CEO, Liberty & Justice), Mustafa Sagizly (Director, Warrior Affairs Commission), Dick Scherjon (Senior Board Advisor, Rabobank), Colin Shepherd (Head, Conflict Affected States in Africa at IFC). With 120 participants from the civil society sector, NGO sector, the Dutch government and the private sector, the day consisted of interactive workshops, case study sessions and more. With a welcome from New York Times best selling author, Gayle Tzemach Lemmon, IGNITE! concluded that creating a culture of entrepreneurship in all environments is important, IGNITE! marks the beginning of a diverse community of people from the private and public sector that will shape the future of youth entrepreneurship.
