Green Forward Best Practices Guide: Turning Experience into Actionable Knowledge

As part of the Green Forward Programme in Palestine, funded by the European Union and implemented by SPARK in partnership with Flow Accelerator, the Green Forward Best Practices Guide was developed to capture and share practical learning from programme activities.

The guide brings together key insights from workshops, peer-learning roundtables, and discussions with Business Support Organizations (BSOs) and ecosystem actors. It documents successful partnership models, practical approaches to green advisory services, common challenges, and replicable solutions for strengthening green and circular economy support in Palestine.

Structured into three parts, the guide first introduces the methodology and rationale behind the case-study approach. It then presents 15 thematic case studies covering green and circular economy practices, ESG integration, renewable energy, green finance, public-private partnerships, and collaborative innovation. Finally, it consolidates practical takeaways for MSMEs, guidance for BSOs, and ecosystem-level recommendations tailored to the Palestinian context.

Designed as a practical reference, the guide supports both participating and non-participating BSOs in translating lessons learned into improved services for MSMEs. It focuses on what is realistic and applicable in Palestine, taking into account local challenges such as high input costs, limited resources, and constrained supply chains.

About Green Forward

Green Forward is a regional initiative focused on strengthening green and inclusive economic development by enhancing the role and capacity of Business Support Organizations in Egypt, Jordan, Tunisia, Lebanon, Morocco, Libya, and Palestine. The programme supports BSOs in improving their services, fostering stronger collaboration, and better responding to the needs of entrepreneurs and enterprises within their ecosystems.

Green Forward is a European Union-funded initiative implemented by a consortium of partners working across three complementary levels. At the macro level, Expertise France leads efforts to support the development of enabling green policies, legislation, and standards in close collaboration with national authorities and regional stakeholders. At the meso level, SPARK focuses on strengthening the capacity of Business Support Organizations (BSOs) to act as effective ecosystem enablers. At the micro level, UNIDO provides targeted technical support to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), promoting the adoption of circular economy practices and improving access to green finance.

Within this consortium, SPARK plays a central role in coordinating programme implementation, facilitating regional collaboration, and supporting local partners in delivering capacity-building activities. Drawing on its long-standing experience in entrepreneurship development and higher education, SPARK works to ensure that programme results contribute to stronger institutions, more resilient ecosystems, and sustainable economic opportunities.
