About Maharat for Tourism
Maharat for Tourism is a digital upskilling and employability programme implemented by SPARK across nine countries in the MENA region, with a special focus on GCC countries. The programme offers accessible, free, and high-quality online training to youth seeking employment in the tourism and hospitality sector. Through partnerships with regional organisations, the programme supports learners with localised training, career readiness support, and job placement opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Project Implementation, Outreach & Coordination
- Assist in the selection, due diligence, contracting, and onboarding processes for new partners and service providers.
- Support in organising project kick-off meetings and ensure stakeholders are aligned on goals, timelines, and deliverables.
- Follow up on preparatory work for project planning and implementation.
- Support partners/service providers in updating project targets and activity plans.
- Assist in monitoring implementation to ensure alignment with approved activity plans and budgets.
- Support the management of the Maharat for Tourism E-Learning Hub platform and coordinate with web development partners to ensure the platform’s functionality, updates, and ongoing maintenance.
- Assist in outreach activities to engage learners and ensure enrolment in the Maharat for Tourism programme, including supporting local partners in organising community events, info sessions, and promotional campaigns.
Monitoring & Reporting
- Assist in collecting, compiling, and submitting timely and accurate progress reports to the Regional Programme Manager.
- Support coordination with SPARK’s MEAL, Finance, and Logistics departments to ensure timely and efficient delivery of project activities.
- Help ensure project documentation is complete, up to date, and stored securely and confidentially.
Stakeholder Engagement & Knowledge Sharing
- Contribute to stakeholder mapping and gather relevant reports, data, and assessments related to the tourism sector in MENA and the GCC.
- Support in maintaining relationships with implementing partners, service providers, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Coordinate with the Communications team to support visibility of SPARK and programme donors in events and outreach activities.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in international development, project management, tourism, education, or a related field.
- 3+ years of relevant experience in program implementation, coordination, or partner management, preferably in international development or digital education.
- Experience working in the MENA and/or GCC regions is a strong advantage.
- Demonstrated experience in outreach and participant recruitment, with the ability to design and implement strategies that attract learners to training programmes, particularly in the tourism and hospitality sector.
- Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders and coordinate complex projects.
- Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in English is required; Arabic is a strong asset.
- Familiarity with digital learning tools and platforms is a plus.
