The Digital Marketing Officer reports to the Communications Manager (HQ) and the Maharat for Tourism Programme Lead and works with related team members in the regions.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

The responsibilities and tasks include, but are not limited to:


SPARK general comms

  • Content Management: manage SPARK’s content strategy and calendar in coordination with functional teams.
  • Manage Content Promotion: Develop and drive our social media and monthly newsletter strategy, promoting all owned content, including fund and portfolio news through SPARK and external channels.
  • Design monthly newsletter, Mailchimp and LinkedIn. 
  • Oversee Measurement: provide ongoing data-driven analytics and semi-annual reports on our content marketing performance, and optimise based on results.

Messaging & Brand Management 

The role is responsible for ensuring that our messaging and brand are consistent across all internal and external channels and are strong, clear, and differentiated. This includes activities such as:

  • Brand audit of SPARK and peers to understand how SPARK can better influence and stand out.
  • Support the team with understanding key messaging.
  • Management of brand style across visual artefacts (brand guidelines, internal templates, etc.

Programme comms

  • Lead and implement communications activities for one or more programmes, in particular, Maharat for Tourism programme;
  • Specialise in communication requirements and ensure we deliver on donor expectations and priorities;
  • Coordinate and oversee the implementation of the Communication Strategy (2030) across SPARK and especially advise programmes on improving their communication strategy and products;
  • Work with the other Communications Manager to manage and oversee SPARK’s social media platforms in the MENA region;
  • Coordinate (write, edit and publish) the regular publication of articles/stories from the programmes across SPARK’s website, in coordination with the comms manager;
  • Deliver programme marketing materials (e.g. printed materials, newsletters etc.) and ensure continued increase in quantity and relevance of audience;
  • The focal point for Maharat for Tourism portfolio events in MENA region;
  • The focal point for Maharat for Tourism portfolio media in MENA region;
  • Provide annual training in comms for partner organisations;
  • Support HQ comms in the organisation of the annual communications training;
  • Support HQ comms with the organisation of the IGNITE conference and spin-off events;
  • Provide support in additional activities when required;
  • Works in compliance with SPARK policies and procedures.

 

Requirements and Skills

  • Higher education or experience in Marketing, Communications, Journalism or a field relevant to SPARK’s work;
  • Excellent English language skills; 
  • Proven editing and writing skills;
  • Social media knowledge and experience are essential; 
  • Journalistic skills and media relations experience;
  • Experienced with WordPress and MailChimp;
  • Experience with graphic design and video production preferred (Adobe Creative Suite);
  • Good communication and social skills and the ability to work in a multicultural setting;
  • Proven organisational skills and the ability to work independently;
  • Eligible to work in the country of posting.
  • Experience of managing and writing content for a website CMS
  •  Google Analytics and SEO experience 
  •  Experience of managing social media campaigns 
  •  Experience of email, AdWords and/or display advertising campaigns 
  •  Experience in identifying target audiences and devising digital campaigns that engage, inform and motivate 
  • LATER software 
  • Google Tag Manager
