Family-led startup transforming healthcare management

The Antabi family's new health tech startup, File in Tab, is providing a digital solution for managing and accessing medical records in Jordan. Supported by the SPARK programme, the Islamic Development Bank, and the Abdul Aziz al Ghurair Refugee Education Fund, the startup is taking its next steps.

The ِAntabi family accompanied their father’s 10-year medical journey, before his passing. Going through the many hospital visits and medical consultations across borders, they faced challenges to manage and maintain his medical records The experience launched the family’s business idea, ‘File in Tab’, which emerged as a digital solution for parents to manage and access medical records of their beloved ones.

Yomen Alshihabi and her four children decided to create a simplified solution to centralise medical record management for families.

The digital platform allows parents to access their child’s medical records, track their medication and set reminders for upcoming appointments. By creating customised profiles, parents can easily navigate their children’s data and make informed decisions. The profiles act as a secure place to add information like immunisations, growth charts, lab results, allergies, medical history, and contact information for healthcare providers.

Joining the Startup Roadshow 4 business training and competition, as part of SPARK’s Skills, Education and Training Programme (STEP), which is financed by the Islamic Development Bank and the Abdul Aziz al Ghurair Refugee Education Fund that boosts startups in Jordan, was a turning point for the founders. SPARK’s partner, Jusoor, supported the team in developing their business idea into a startup through incubation, a series of hackathons and business coaching. File in Tab company gained valuable business insights, enhanced their platform and application design.

“We benefited a lot from the hackathon and incubator, with the intensive coaching on how to start a business, become an entrepreneur and most importantly, present a pitch deck for our company. [They also] connected us with a lot of mentors who helped us in the early steps of File in Tab,” explained Co-founder, Thaer Antabi.

Being family-owned distinguishes File in Tab’s tech business, as they are passionate about making a difference in the lives of families. Together, their wealth of expertise and diverse backgrounds in business management, medicine, and pharmaceuticals have led to a successful startup.

“After our work with Jusoor and SPARK,” explains Thaer, “our hope is for File in Tab to become a reliable source for patients all around the world, to save their medical information in one place, and ease the communication between patients and their doctors so they can provide them with medical care.”
