On March 1st and 2nd, 2024, SPARK and Sarh Group opened the Asal Bazaar in cooperation with the Islamic Development Bank and the Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair Refugee Education Fund at Mecca Mall, Amman, Jordan as part of the STEP programme

The marketplace provides a platform for small and medium-sized enterprises across Jordan to exhibit and advertise their goods to the public, engage with customers, and expand their market presence. Within this vibrant space, an array of items crafted by women, spanning from handicrafts to wooden artifacts, mosaics, hand embroidery, digital solutions, and culinary delights, are showcased. The Asal Bazaar actively fosters entrepreneurial concepts among MSMEs and lends support to small businesses, thereby fostering their growth and long-term viability.

Over two days, visitors had the chance to explore, engage with, and support local businesses. Through face-to-face interactions and product demonstrations, MSMEs effectively communicated their brand stories and unique selling points, establishing meaningful connections with potential clients and partners. The event served as a dynamic platform where entrepreneurial spirit thrived, fostering a sense of community and collaboration among participants.

Overall, the Bazaar was not just a marketplace but also served as a catalyst for MSMEs to expand their reach, build relationships, and seize new opportunities in the ever-evolving business landscape. With 22 businesses from across all Jordanian governorates in attendance, participants echoed the significance of this event. Nibal Al-Najidin, Founder of Nebaleva, expressed, “The networking prospects at the bazaar proved invaluable. I encountered potential collaborators and mentors who provided invaluable insights and backing for my business.” Similarly, Souad Batikha, Founder of Koursheh HandCraft, emphasised, “Engaging in the bazaar presented us with a remarkable chance to directly engage with customers. Events like this are essential for our growth.”
