SPARK’s Video on Mediation Initiatives in the Balkans

SPARK has produced a video to highlight the significance of its mediation between Kosovo and Serbia through its Trade Facilitation Project and Diploma Acceptance Project.

Thrived to develop higher education and lead post-conflict environments to prosperity, SPARK has initiated mediation between Kosovo and Serbia through its Trade Facilitation Project. Conflicts in the past between Kosovo and Serbia have not only resulted to severed relations between the two nations, but also affected business ties between the two countries. Started in 2013, the Trade Facilitation Project brings together companies (in particular SMEs) from Serbia and Kosovo to facilitate trade and improve their businesses, which will give them the opportunity to grow outside their borders.

Just as important it is for both countries to expand their markets, it is fundamental that graduates have validated diplomas for the rest of the Balkan region as well as the rest of Europe. While this was not the case earlier, SPARK has established a Diploma Acceptance Project in 2012, in collaboration with the European University Association. This initiative will make sure that graduates can get their diplomas certified in Kosovo to be accepted in Serbia and vice versa, which will encourage further study and employment in the rest of the Balkans and Europe.
