SPARK Joins Blog Action Day 2013!
We are excited to announce that SPARK is an official Blog Action Day 2013 partner!
An event that has taken place since 2007, Blog Action Day is an online gathering that brings together bloggers from different countries, interests and languages to blog about one important global topic on the same day.
Past topics have tackled such pressing issues as Water, Climate Change, Poverty, Food and the Power of We.
The topic this year is Human Rights. As we work daily to protect, respect and fulfill basic economic, social and cultural rights for people in post-conflict regions, SPARK is inspired and excited to be part of this day of action.
Human rights, as defined by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, is the “recognition of the inherent dignity and of the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world…”. Sadly, however, in post-conflict states, the rule of law is often times weak and human rights abuses are a common occurrence.
Through employment creation and vocational education, SPARK aims to empower young people to find their voice and recognise their potential. At SPARK we believe all human beings have the right to build on their potential, regardless of gender or economic status.
Join us for Blog Action Day and tell us, “What does Human Rights mean to you?”
