Scholarships

With the aim to build a well educated, job-ready workforce of future leaders, SPARK provides higher (vocational) education scholarships to young, vulnerable youth (mostly Syrian refugees) in the Middle East. Our scholarships are tailored to local labour market needs and we partner with local organisations.

With hundreds of thousands of Syrian and youth from host communities applying for just a handful of overseas scholarships every year, new approaches are needed to scale up access to higher (vocational) education and subsequently, access to the job market.

Our scholarships are tailored to local labour market needs and we partner with local higher education institutes, government ministries and local organisations in Syria, Jordan, Turkey, Lebanon, the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KR-I) and Palestine to ensure that ambitious youth can secure jobs after graduation.

With a scholarship from SPARK, students also have access to student services, which include psychosocial counselling, extracurricular civic leadership and economic empowerment courses, as well as opportunities to join entrepreneurship training and access to finance for those that wish to start a business.

By now, we have provided more than 10,000 scholarships in the MENA region, but more scholarship programmes for vulnerable youth in conflict-affected regions remain much needed.
