Queen Máxima to open the 5th IGNITE conference
We’re delighted to announce that Her Majesty Queen Máxima of the Netherlands will be opening our 5th annual IGNITE Conference on Rebuilding Futures this year.
Queen Máxima will open our IGNITE Conference in her capacity as the UN Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development. In September 2009, she was appointed special advocate of the Secretary-General of the United Nations. In this position, she advises the SG on access to financial services and works to make financial services accessible to everyone in the world. This contributes to the development of low-income groups and small and medium-sized enterprises in particular. For example, in many countries it is unusual for people or small businesses to open a bank or savings account or to take out insurance or loans. Since June 2011, Queen Máxima has been honorary chairperson of the G20 Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion (GPFI).
