Libya Economic Acceleration Project (LEAP)

After more than a decade of civil war, Libya is gradually moving towards stability. The economy is experiencing growth and there are many new developments in the entrepreneurial ecosystem. Despite this, the Fezzan region of southwestern Libya remains neglected and unstable.

The Libya Economic Acceleration Project (LEAP) is a joint initiative by SPARK and Chemonics, financed by USAID, that contributes to increased stability in the Fezzan region by investing in economic development of youth. Through activities such as entrepreneurship, firm-level assistance, technical and vocational training, and business development support, LEAP aims to create at least 200 jobs and support at least 20 business enterprises in the region.

Working with local partners in Libya, SPARK and Chemonics will provide expertise to strengthen Libyan entrepreneurship organisations to ensure long-term sustainability of the programme and promote a supportive private sector ecosystem for startups.
